Apparently Miley Cyrus knows something we don’t.
For all the flack the child star-turned-twerking cautionary tale has received, her music continues to meet enormous success, and we’re still a month out from the release of “Bangerz.”
On Tuesday, Miley broke Vevo’s record of most views in a 24-hour period for her latest music video, “Wrecking Ball.” with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer (and apparently a lucky one at that). Just replace Robin Thicke with construction equipment — minus the flesh-colored underwear.
With 19.3 million views, “Wrecking Ball” knocks One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” from Vevo’s top spot, nearly doubling its record. Earlier this summer, Miley’s “We Can’t Stop,” the driving force behind her VMA display, debuted with a record-breaking 10.7 million hits in its first day.
Miley may have lost her Vogue cover, but she’ll host and perform on “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 5. Intentional or not, her sex-fueled gravy train wreck shows no signs of stopping.
