Happy Wednesday everyone. You’re almost over the hump and into a pre-Halloween weekend. Maybe you never made it out of Sunday afternoon’s depression, and missed updates on your Twitter feed. Or you’ve consumed every bit of pop-culture trivia just to get you this far in the week. Whatever the case, there some internet gems you may have missed, ranging from news to nonsense. Halfway through the week, here’s what’s up:
- Possibly the greatest round-up (this being nowhere near as awesome) hit the interwebz on Monday. Poking fun of news lists, Seattle’s The Stranger did a hilarious, kick-ass aggregation of well…butts. [The Stranger]
- Less laughable, but arguably more important, Monday was also the 10th anniversary of Elliott Smith’s suicide (or was it suicide?). If you’re like me and have the limited edition vinyl of Figure 8 on your wall, you probably teared up reading these moving tributes from Spin and Pitchfork. If you didn’t, put on XO, read and have a good cry.
- On Tuesday we received confirmation that Amazon is slowly taking over the world: one-click shopping, Kindles, The Washington Post. Now it will enter the fray with Netflix to produce it’s own original series, starring John Goodman. [Variety]
- Grab a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ‘Scotchy Scotch Scotch’ and watch the new Anchorman 2 trailer, which teases us with all the makings of hilarious: Scorpions, bowling balls, RV road trips, green screens, Brick and New York City. [Vulture]
Now you’re this much closer to Thursday!
